1. Many carpet cleaning companies don't clean and disinfect their equipment after previous jobs. This is definitely hazardous to your health. Whatever was extracted from the previous client’s carpet will now be transferred to your carpet. Hopefully it wasn't a water damage situation with a sewage backup or other bacterial spill. There are many hazardous organisms such as bacteria, viruses, mold & fungi, and many others that thrive in standing water. Time is very crucial when it comes to cleanup. Organisms can be killed and will not become airborne as long as they remain wet. But once dried, those organisms can spread like wild fire by dust particles. Consequently, it is important to clean the equipment that came in contact with the hazardous material by using a sanitizing solution as soon as possible. Especially after completing each client’s home.
2. This is an unregulated industry. You must be wary about the individual that you let into your home or office and the chemicals they may be using. The carpet cleaning company you should use must be reputable carpet cleaning company with social proof that can be tracked along with plenty of client testimonials that can be easily attained. It is hard to hide reviews now-a-days with the media, so there's bound to be some information about the company that you choose. Also, many companies use subcontractors. Some subcontractors are fine and some are not. Background checks are not always reliable as we have found from the media. Would you let criminals in your home and around your family and belongings??? I think not….. Be cautious! Make sure the carpet cleaning company you choose has employees. Anyone can be a subcontractor.
3. Last but not least, make sure the carpet cleaning company that you hire is properly insured. This is very important. Otherwise, if a situation arises such as a fire, water damage, major accident or your property gets damaged you may be covered. If not, you could lose your lifestyle or more importantly….. Your LIFE! At least 1 million general liability insurance is adequate for the carpet cleaning industry. If the carpet cleaning company has more than that…… The more the merrier. Be cautious, ask questions, Protect yourself, and do your research. Make sure you feel comfortable with the carpet cleaning company that you hire.
